August 9th | M Twickenham with Kung Fu Girl, Velvet Devil, Boom Boom and Friends

Charles Smith wines center around the trend that most people generally enjoy wine without delay. The intent is to create wines to be enjoyed now, but with typicity of both the varietal and the vineyard. The wines are full of flavor, balanced and approachable, highlighting the Washington growing region which boasts warm days cool nights and killer soil. “if you are a wine grape,” Charles said “you want to grow here”.
Tim Fogarty will be taking us through half a dozen of the wines. Tim is a New Zealander who has been with his company for 27 years, the last 7 based here in London looking after the wines throughout Europe. A kiwi, presenting Washington State USA wines, with some steak from the US, in Twickenham London England ….. the great International World of an evening’s hospitality at ‘M’

Matthew Jukes Presents ‘Mature Australian Wine Dinners at M’

Matthew Jukes is an accomplished and respected wine writer with a cult following of his 4 insightful wine reports; 2017 Bordeaux En Primeur Report, 2016 Burgundy En Primeur Report, 100 Best Australian Wines 2018/19 Report and the inaugural 2017 Piemonte Report, which are all available to download from his website www.matthewjukes.com. We will be focusing on his Australian wine palatte in the 4 dinners we have planned for you at M Victoria.

To become such an expert on Australian wines, Matthew tastes over 4000 Australian wines in order to whittle these down to his 100 Best. This is the fifteenth year in which he has undertaken this challenge and he shows a selection of these wines on his UK Roadshow and also as far away as New York, China and in Australia itself. Matthew says that, ‘The wines mentioned in his Report are Australia’s magnificent vinous vanguard and it is my great pleasure and indeed honour to showcase them nationally and internationally in a continued effort to alert the wine loving public to the great wines made in this wonderful country.’

“We are so used to drinking Australian wines within their first few years of production, not least because the finest examples show uncommon balance and precocity. I have decided to open a series of mature Australian wines from my own cellar in order to highlight just how amazing these wines taste when they have had the chance to age. When Aussie wines, both whites and reds, approach and then cross the decade-old mark they relax and evolve into rare beauties. M Restaurants and I have put together a series of four dinners, where my wines will be matched perfectly to four courses of stunning food. With wineries as famous as Penfolds, Glaetzer, Mount Pleasant, Wakefield, Yalumba, Leeuwin, Brokenwood, Tahbilk and Grosset, to name but a few, these dinners are the first of their kind and they will not be repeated because stock are very rare. At the final dinner, on the 27th November, I will be throwing caution to the wind – enough said! I hope to see you there.” – Matthew Jukes

The Day After WMD – The Not-Argentinas? – Dinner with Susana Balbo’s winery

Join us for “The Day After WMD – The Not-Argentinas” 4-course feast with Susana Balbo winery, on the 18th of April at 6:30pm at M Victoria Street.

World Malbec day is a celebration of this great grape variety that put Argentina on the world wine map. This was no accident. Argentinian president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento in the 1800’s thought that Argentina will benefit from having a special identity, something it will be recognized by and he decided to focus on wine, specifically Malbec. He officially declared this as his mission on the 17th of April 1853, which is now known as World Malbec Day.

Over 150 years later and Malbec is firmly the iconic grape of the country, but it is definitely not the only grape that grows in Argentina. We are lucky enough to work with some brilliant wineries from Argentina, that grow a range of different grape varieties. We partnered up with the Queen of Argentinian wine, Susana Balbo. An Argentinian 4-course feast will be paired with some of the brilliant wines that should get their day too.

SPANISH FEAST – DINE WITH ELADIO OF VINA MURIEL, RIOJA

Join us for a fantastic 4-course dinner at M Victoria on Thursday the 22nd of February. The dinner will be hosted by Eladio of the fantastic estate Vina Muriel from Rioja, Spain. Vina Muriel is one of the oldest winemaking estates in Elciego, which is in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the freshest of all Rioja apellations. Elciego has some of the poorest soil, which contrary to popular belief, benefits the wines. It makes them struggle, the roots dig deep and suck all of their nutrients in their struggle to survive, which creates luscious concentrated grapes that deliver layers and layers of complex aromas. We will be serving wines from 2 of their ranges, including special release wines, that are only produced in the best vintages.

Our Executive head chef Michael Reid prepared a menu inspired by the region with some delicious examples of Spanish cuisine, including a delicious Spanish cheese board to end the night.

As always, spaces are very limited so do not hesitate to apply!
