The Day After WMD – The Not-Argentinas? – Dinner with Susana Balbo’s winery

Join us for “The Day After WMD – The Not-Argentinas” 4-course feast with Susana Balbo winery, on the 18th of April at 6:30pm at M Victoria Street.

World Malbec day is a celebration of this great grape variety that put Argentina on the world wine map. This was no accident. Argentinian president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento in the 1800’s thought that Argentina will benefit from having a special identity, something it will be recognized by and he decided to focus on wine, specifically Malbec. He officially declared this as his mission on the 17th of April 1853, which is now known as World Malbec Day.

Over 150 years later and Malbec is firmly the iconic grape of the country, but it is definitely not the only grape that grows in Argentina. We are lucky enough to work with some brilliant wineries from Argentina, that grow a range of different grape varieties. We partnered up with the Queen of Argentinian wine, Susana Balbo. An Argentinian 4-course feast will be paired with some of the brilliant wines that should get their day too.

Our Level 2 school takes a more in-depth look at wine. A 6-hour course will get into the specifics of the most important grape varieties and see how they differ stylistically from region to region. We will also touch on the basics and the why’s of decanting, aerating, storage and service of wines.

Join us for a fantastic 4-course dinner at M Victoria on Thursday the 22nd of February. The dinner will be hosted by Eladio of the fantastic estate Vina Muriel from Rioja, Spain. Vina Muriel is one of the oldest winemaking estates in Elciego, which is in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the freshest of all Rioja apellations. Elciego has some of the poorest soil, which contrary to popular belief, benefits the wines. It makes them struggle, the roots dig deep and suck all of their nutrients in their struggle to survive, which creates luscious concentrated grapes that deliver layers and layers of complex aromas. We will be serving wines from 2 of their ranges, including special release wines, that are only produced in the best vintages.

Our Executive head chef Michael Reid prepared a menu inspired by the region with some delicious examples of Spanish cuisine, including a delicious Spanish cheese board to end the night.

We would like to invite you to join us for an evening in celebration of Italy and their fantastic cuisine. We will be joined by one of the most charismatic winemaker’s we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, Michele of the Perusini Winery.

Michele oversees making some of the finest wines in Collio-Friuli, the North-Eastern part of Italy, home to top class Picolit, Ribolla and Refosco. Perusini is a family owned winery with a historic love for the native vines of Friuli. Michele will be guiding us through his wine matches to an ‘inspired by Italy’ 4-course menu, again created by Executive Chef Michael Reid inspired by flavours of Italy.

The Federalist | October Spotlight Dinner: USA

You are cordially invited to join a few selected guests ahead of the launch of the now world-famous play Hamilton in London to enjoy what will be a spectacular evening of American inspired cuisine and top wines from Californian Federalist Winery.

Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the USA and the founder of The Federalist party, was such an inspirational man, that he earned himself quite a few admirers. Among them a winery coming from California, that named itself The Federalist in honor of this great man. As “Hamilton” the musical is coming to Victoria Palace Theatre in November we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate this man and bring the wines in to be enjoyed by you at M Victoria.

Exclusive dinner with famed Sumaridge Estate Wines’ winemaker
